Celebrate Baby M’s sleep training success!

Sleep training can seem scary, especially when you invest so much in it and you are not sure it will work! Follow along to with baby M as he learned how to sleep and his parents finally got the sleep they needed!

It all started when 8 months hit and baby M was still being held for night time sleep

Listen, we have 0 judgment for parents, our biggest goal is sustainability and when you do not know what to do, you do what works and for this family, taking shifts, and holding their baby for night time and nap sleep was the only way to get the most sleep in their house.

As you can imagine, holding a baby for 8 months is exhausting and can really wear down on parents mentally, physically and emotionally. And their son was constantly sick and quite a cranky little guy.

Often times, moms are our biggest critics and want to believe that when I leave their baby will be sleeping better, but for this family, the dad was was the skeptic! When I first waked in, I said hello, he said “hello, I am happy you’re here but I still don’t believe this will work, but I am happy you’re here!”.

One of my favorite parts about this work is connecting with parents, listening to their fears and concerns and meeting them where they are at in order to help guide their baby to sleep success. It is possible, you do not have to suffer, you do not have to be over exhausted, or watch your baby constantly be sick and grumpy or struggling to stay awake during the day.

Night one of sleep training!

One of the biggest fears that M’s dad had was that when he was trying to get him to sleep in the crib was that he would bang his head on the side of the crib! Of course this is a huge concern and I assured them that we would navigate this if it happened, but it didnt, not once! Our focus is customization for all families to feel comfortable, heard AND achieve sleep results that will be sustainable for the rest of their lives.

Night one, was really great, considering where Baby M started! I was in and out and up and down a lot, but baby M learned a whole lot and by night two, he woke up once and slept 12 hours! Miraculous - or was it just knowing what he needed and what would work best for him and implementing it? We think it’s a combination of our sleepy magic and sleep expertise as well as implementing exactly what baby M needed.

His naps followed and as usual, sometimes naps take a while to come! His first day naps were rough and I had to really encourage his parents to look at his progress and show them how to navigate this all! By day two he was taking two fabulous naps with a third cat nap at the end of the day to get him through to bedtime. The parents were beyond thrilled!

Our final night of sleep training

On night 3 with Baby M slept a full 12 hours from start to finish! He woke refreshed and exited. I helped his mom get to daycare, I explained the routine and schedule to the daycare team to ensure they understood and knew what to look for when baby M was ready for his naps!

It means they can be put down to bed or for a nap with any care giver in any location as long as things are set up correctly. Sleep trained babies truly are flexible and open up so many opportunities for families as they grow and thrive.
